Postal trade unions charge that there is a delay in post delivery due to the lack of postmen.
Convenor of the Postal Trade Union Collective Chinthaka Bandara said that there is a risk of the postal distribution network collapsing due to this. He said that this situation was aggravated as postal distribution divisions have not been created in years.
Bandara noted that due to the lack of workers in certain post
offices, postal distribution happens a few days a week.
When Newsfirst inquired into the matter from Postmaster Rohana Abeyeratne he said that there was a lack of postmen, noting that the department did not have the ability to find an immediate solution to the problem.
