Minister of Telecommunication and Information Technology Mr Ranjith Siyambalapitiya will declare open twenty one Nenasala’s (Information and Communication Centres) today and tomorrow in the Northern Province. The Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) under the direction of the Presidential Secretariat is implementing the project, and it will cover the districts of Jaffna, Mannar, Mullaitivu, Kilinochchi and Vavuniya ICTA Chairman and Presidential Advisor Prof P.W.Epasinghe said the aim of setting up these Nenasalas is to accelerate enhancing the people with knowledge about information technology as well as providing them with IT facilities. The facilities provided at the Nenasalas include facilities to use the skype and e-services. Computer courses suitable for youths and schoolchildren are also scheduled to be launched along with the Nenasela programme.  . The Nenasala project is a concept of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, it has been implemented as the country’s flagship project to make maximum benefits of ICT reach all, especially the remotest villager. Currently there are 699 Nenasalas islandwide.
