President Mahinda Rajapaksha says Poor children in the North suffered by the war

President Mahinda Rajapakse said that expeditious steps were taken to develop the Northern Province within the last 4 years after defeating terrorism.  He assured that whatever that is being enjoyed by the people of South will be given to the people of North as well.

The President addressing a mammoth rally of the Mulathivu district held at the at the Pudukuduirrippu Pradeshiya Sabha Grounds yesterday morning said all infrastructure requirements for up grading the life standards of the people of the North have been provided and problems related to housing and land will be solved soon.

He said the government has streamlined plans to develop North and the South in an equal footing.  The President made a special appeal to the people of North not to get misled by false statements being made by the leaders of the Tamil National Alliance.

The President said that it was the children of the poor people of the country who suffered under the cruel war.  The children of the tiger terrorist leaders and the Tamil National Alliance were enjoying life in countries such as England and France.  He said it is the responsibility of everyone to prevent such horrendous situation arising in the country once again.
The President pointed out the importance of everyone getting united and living in peace and harmony.

Ministers Susil Premjayantha, DEW Gunasekera, Reginald Cooray, Deputy Minister Susantha Punchinilame, Parliamentarians Prabha Ganeshan, Murugesu Chandrakumar, Unaiz Farook and several others addressed the rally.
