People in the Jaffna peninsula accuse that the Tamil National Alliance is making an attempt to rule the people of the North by the Vellala caste although majority of the Tamils in the Jaffna peninsula and in the Northern Province belong to other castes.

They complain that the Tamil National Alliance has marginalized the people of other castes in their nomination list and only two persons from the “other castes” have been included in the TNA nomination list.

The people of North accuse that the TNA’s Vellala dominant political culture is denying basic human rights, dignity and self respect of all the people in Jaffna peninsula.

They also accuse TNA of nominating a Colombo based Vellala individual as their Chief Ministerial candidate despite there are many intelligent and erudite Tamil personnel in the North.

The people also point out that this also violate the policy held by the TNA that the people of the South should not rule the North.

While severely criticizing the TNA for their caste based politics people of the North also commend the United People’s Freedom Alliance in which people belonging to all castes are being treated equally and since there is no caste based discrimination in the UPFA.
